These include large enclosed facilities with barriers at entries and exits that use traditional ticketing machines and may benefit from a technology upgrade or security patrols to increase customer safety. Open car parks at shopping centres and business parks, on the other hand, may benefit from a Pay and Display system with On-Site Patrols for extra security and enforcement. In more congested environments, retail establishments in towns or cities may want to offer customers free parking for a limited period of time, but this free period is easily abused and should be strictly monitored by On-Site Patrols or the latest advances in ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) systems.
